Vernon “Ray” Raphael Vines, Jr., 65, of Staunton, Virginia passed away Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia.

He was born December 17, 1957 in Staunton, the son of the late Vernon Raphael Vines, Sr. and Flora Nadine Moyers Vines.

Ray was formerly a small business owner who ran a number of second hand stores.

He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a great friend who thought the world of his grandchildren.  He enjoyed thrifting, poker, recreational smoking, music, and all sports.

Ray is survived by his daughter: Lindsay Vines and her fiancé Mark Jones of Staunton; grandchildren: Vegas Jones, Storm Jones; sisters: Thelma Noel Rhinehart of Woodstock, VA, Julie Rhodes of Pleasant Valley, Utah; best friend, Frank Davis; nieces: Heather Walsh of Far West, UT, Katie Jablonski of Gloucester, VA; 1 great niece; 2 great nephews; and his cat, Pepper.

He was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Via.
