Sylvia Belle Stokes Bowden

Sylvia Belle Stokes Bowden, 74, of Craigsville, Virginia passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021 at her home in Augusta Springs, Virginia.

She was born September 26, 1947 in Craigsville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Arthur Gordon Stokes and Sarah Louise Sprouse Stokes.

Sylvia was formerly employed as a CNA for Staunton Nursing Home.

She loved her grandkids, and everyone’s kids were her kids, not to mention her deep love of her many, many pets.

Sylvia is survived by her husband of 62 years, William “Frankie” Franklin Bowden; children: Carolyn Knight and husband Robert of Craigsville, Donna Randozzo and husband John of Goshen; grandchildren: Christopher Miller, Stephen Fridley, Heather Bowden, Natasha Bowden, Jessica Bowden, Crystal Bowden, J.W. Bowden, Regina Shiplett, Jesse Bowden, Amy Knight, Robert Knight, Robbie Knight, J.R. Knight, Sarah Knight, Joseph Thompson, Jr., Serenity Randozzo, Rose Abshire, David Knight; great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Cheyenne, Cherokee, Addison, Kelly, Sadie, Riley, Lilly, Bentley, Tyler, Brianna, Brantley, Alyna, Owen, Trenton, Katlin; brother; Eugene Stokes of Staunton; sister; Betty Cook of Craigsville; special friend, Darlene Rusmisel; and special nieces and nephews that she treated like family.

She was preceded in death by 2 sons, William and John Bowden; grandson, Eddie Bowden; half-sisters, Virginia and Isabelle; and half-brothers, Joseph and Jack.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Bowden Family Cemetery with Pastor Pam Campbell officiating.

The family will receive friends at Donna’s house at all other times.

Memorial contributions may be made to in lieu of flowers to Craigsville Funeral Home to help the family with expenses.
